I am Called!

6 11 2009

Things have been very slow for us here in Huehue.  Daniza and I are waiting for her visa still and are hoping to be in Houston by February.  Daniza has learned a lot of english and understands a ton!  And things have really come to a stand still as fas as missions goes.  We do not have a specific ministry here anymore, and it has really made things tough.  I have been trying to figure out why all doors have been closed and yet we are still here, and Im still trying to figure that out.

Last week I started working on a paper that would outline the protestant church here in Huehue, and how to plant or start a ministry without it going bad, or being unbiblical here.  It is a work in progress, but something I believe could help future groups of missionaries that come here to live.

I have been looking at churches in Houston, and am excited to be going back to a Church that seeks after Christ!!  It has been a while!  I have visited a church there before called Kaleo, which means called.  I like it and it might be our future church!

I just watched a video for the church and it was more just about their name.  It was so cool and simple.  It’s God speaking:

Abraham I have  CALLED you, Moses I have CALLED you, David I have CALLED you, Paul I have CALLED you, King (MLK) I have CALLED you, Teresa (mother Teresa) I have CALLED you!  And then last year it was for sure God said to me Scott I have CALLED you!

And so today I may not know why I am here, but He called me.  He gave me an amazing and beautiful wife, the ability to speak a new language, and more faith that He is at work, and I can take no credit for He did it all!!  What a great God we serve!

God Bless,

Update update!!

24 08 2009

Sorry its been so long everyone!!  Things have been different these days.

We are coming up on Sept, and the last team from the Village Church will be here!!  This sadly will be the first team in years that will not come to huehue.  They are planning on work in Guatemala city, and out in San Jose at Fundaninos orphanage!!  Im excited to see them!!

Right before the team comes I will be headed to the US for the birth of my brothers baby!!!  I WILL BE AN UNCLE!!!  Little Easton is expected any day now, so keep my sister in law Rachel and my brother Brett in your prayers!!

Things here in huehue have been slow these days.  We did get to paint some at the Zona Juvenil Headquarters over the weekend, and I am starting to teach english this coming wed.  Please pray that this will open doors to proclaim the gospel!

A big prayer request is for Danizas Visa!!  We are hoping to get through Customs and Immigration, and on to the National Visa Center soon!!  After those two places come Danizas medical exam and interview!  The day after the interview and she is approved (pray for approval) we get her visa!!  Soon after we are hoping to head to the States!!!  I am so excited for Daniza to see and know my home!!!  Also, to meet my family and friends who have not been able to get here!!  Please be in prayer for this whole process as it is long and exausting!!  We are 53 days into the USCIS!!

Thanks to everyone for your support!  We hope to see you all soon!!

EN CRISTO,

Flat tires and translations!!

21 07 2009

Hey everyone!! Sorry I have just now gotten my website back up!!  It has been fun since I got back to huehue last week!  I helped out on Saturday up in Zacaleu for a team from pittsburgh.  I translated the story of Noahs Ark in front of a group of kids.  It was my first time to translate in front of a big group, and to be honest I loved it!!  As Daniza and I were leaving we noticed our back tire on our scooter was flat as a pancake.  Kind of a problem when your up in the mountains far from the billions of pinchazos (tire repair).  Well we pushed it back into town, and really I enjoyed most of the walk.  I was in houston last week with 100 degree weather and here it was high noon and about 75-80 degrees at most, so I was happy!  Although my beutiful wife was no as satisfied by the hike.  Well we got it fixed and have a mean ole back tire now!!

This week we are headed down to Guatemala city for the second team from my home church.  I am excited to see them.  They will be helping out at Fundaninos orphanage outside the city, and then headed to huehue to do zona juvenil and amaro de san jose!!  Please be in prayer for this team and all the folks they will encounter!!

One last thing I really wanted to share with yall was about the Zemlers!  They have been in the adoption process for their sweet girl Johanna for 2 years now and have been living on Guatemala for 6 months.  They have hit a road block with the Department of Homeland Security and thought they were almost done.  They need to get approved to leave and go home!  Please pray for the Zemlers and that the govt would get on it and send their own citizens home and out of this mess!  There is more infor on their website:  www.adoptingjohanna.com

Also, dont forget to write your congressmen and senators and attach their letter!!  We actually have a chance to be proactive in the situation!

Love you all!!!
